12A Figuring out Buyer Behavior #1

I think the age segment of my product is pretty obviously anyone who has a drivers license in their respective country. In the United States, that would be 16 years old, typically with 1 full years experience driving restricted or with an adult next to you. Anyone can use the product even those younger than 16. For example even children can download the application and use it to assist their parents while they are being driven.

For my interview process I interviewed 3 different individuals and attempted to create some diversity among them. One was a freshman undergraduate student at UF from South America who lived on campus. I asked her when she would usually use her scooter the most and how often she was impacted by difficult parking to which she responded it affected her every single day. She claims that parking for her scooter on her way to class is always very difficult to find as people do not park well and make it difficult for others in the already limited spaces. Another interview was with a gradate student who lives off campus in a house who i asked the same question; when do you usually use your car most often. He claims that he goes to campus every single day but has class 3x a week and lab work twice. On his class days parking is very difficult and he is always stressed about getting to class late and not getting a good seat but when he goes to lab it is usually easy because he has access to a specific area. The last interview was with a professor. He said that his parking ordeal was always very very difficult. He often times utilizes street parking whenever he does not want to deal with the craziness of finding on campus parking easily.

What all these individuals have in common is until this point, if your parking lot does not have specific designated parking for you, it is essentially a free for all. My application gives those who do not want to worry about parking at all an outlet. To this day i do not believe that there is anything of the sort on the market for stressed drivers who do not want to deal with difficult parking. These interviews only further established what I had already planned. That numerous people across many different age groups have interest in the product as it can seize a major opportunity in their lives. In conclusion, I believe that my product has the ability to be successful and the vast majority of my interviews conducted have helped that hypothesis.

  1. Hi Mark,

Your application is super interesting because today most students and staff of each university spend enough time finding parking because most times it is impossible and more for students who live outside the campus who have to leave in advance to deal with parking and not be late for classes. Your business idea will be very useful for all students and university staff not to worry about parking. I also think your application is very original, which could improve the lives of many people in relation to these aspects. Good job.

  2. Hey Mark,
I think your idea would be a useful and widely used one across campus if it ever came to life.
When considering your segment/customer pool here in Gainesville, would your service be open to everyone in Gainesville or just UF students and faculty, especially for on campus parking? Furthermore, is this something that would be free or come with a charge? Would your customer pool respond differently is there was a charge for the parking service?

  3. Hi Mark! I agree that your age segment is for those who have driver’s license. Especially hearing from the professor’s point of view! This app could make parking more efficient and stress free for facility here at the University of Florida and other universities around America. I think that you have a really great business idea that could potentially work!
