1. The hollow walls in my house that
allows me to hear my roommates every move.
·
This
bug exists because the house is very old and built many years ago, as a result some
walls are not as thick and soundproof as others.
2. The amount of trash that builds up
because the trash-bin for my house is way too small for my 4 roommates in total.
·
This
bug exists because my roommates and I have not bit the bullet and actually gone
to purchase a larger trash container for the 4 of us or alternatively, a 2nd
one.
3. When my printer suddenly stops
connecting to my laptop and I am unable to print when I really need to.
·
This
bug exists because the WIFI and Bluetooth router is in another section of the
house that sometimes has trouble reaching this far.
4. The wait and line to see academic
advising and the advisors, typically at least an hour wait every single time.
·
This
bug exists because Academic advising gets very hectic and busy during specific times
of the year and advisors are in high demand.
5. The way my body always negatively reacts
to the weather change as it gets colder throughout the year.
·
This
bug exists because my skin is especially susceptible to dry skin and the cold
weather does not help that, especially when riding a scooter or it is very
windy.
6. The way the dust carries into my
house from the street outside.
·
This
bug exists because the winds push the dust into my front yard and people
walking and stepping inside attract the dust in.
7. The construction noise early in the
morning from the new gas station being built across the street.
·
This
bug exists because the city of Gainesville is building a new gas station across
the street from my house and my window is the closest to it.
8. My inability to find a seat/chair
in a library that is close enough for my charger to plug into my laptop or phone.
·
This
bug exists because many students go to the library around the same times in order
to get studying done between classes and purposely choose the seats located
closest to the outlets.
9. The insulation, or lack thereof, in
my house and the reason it is always freezing inside, especially at night.
·
This
bug exists because again, the house is very old and was built many years ago
and as a result the technology for the insulation for the house is not up to
date.
10. The fact that the master’s program
I am applying to does not consider one’s LSAT score when applying, only looking
at GRE score even though ever advisor has told me that their program should
consider both as alternatives for one another.
·
This
bug exists because many programs request specific requirements in order to be
administered to said program. In this case they feel the GRE is better served
than the LSAT and the rule has not been altered yet.
11. The lack of scooter parking on
campus for UF students.
·
This
bug exists because the school has not put enough of an emphasis on available scooter
parking on campus. I believe this also exists because the lack of parking
forces students to park their scooters illegally and in a way that allows for
fines to be placed which increases UF profits.
12. Having to pick and choose
specifically when to go to the gym to work out because if you go during “rush-hour”
getting the machines is nearly impossible.
·
This
bug exists because many students prefer having class in the morning and exercising
after and that causes the majority of students to workout typically around the same
times which creates traffic for machines.
13. When the WIFI in my house does not
reach me and causes me to lose track/progress of whatever I was doing.
·
This
bug exists because again the WIFI router in the house is located on a different
portion of the house and when all the roommates are using it, it causes it to
buffer and work slower in some further areas.
14. Some businesses/stores/restaurants
not willing to give back change for a larger bill.
·
This
bug exists because the said business has a policy that does not allow them to exchange
cash for change. As well as this I believe this exists because it forces people
to pay with larger bills.
15. Students who skip class then ask
for help/the notes next time they see you.
·
This
bug exists because some people could have trouble with early morning classes or
be too lazy to attend class at all and thing it is easier just getting the
notes from someone else who pays attention and puts forth effort.
16. People walking down the street
extremely slowly because they are looking down at their phone instead of paying
attention to where they are going.
·
This
bug exists because many people can be busy with important information on their cell
phones throughout the day. It also may exist because too many people are obsessed
with social media and their phones and not paying enough attention to the word
surrounding them.
17. When I call/text someone and I have
a fairly good idea they are on their phone and purposely ignore me for whatever
reason.
·
This
bug exists because some people are not always ready to carry a conversation and
would rather speak to someone at a different time. It could also exist because
someone is ignoring me and choosing not to talk to me at all for a length of time.
18. When my younger siblings are rewarded
or given things or slack that I was not given at their age in the past.
·
This
bug exists because my parents/guardians are not the same people they were years
ago when I was my siblings age. Many things and circumstances have changed
since then that result in different outcomes during modern times when it comes
to my siblings.
19. When a professor purposely keeps
the class after the period is over for whatever reason.
·
This
bug exists because the allot time slot for class may not be long enough for a
specific lecture and that forces some teachers to hold students longer than
they would like.
20. When someone arrives to class very
late and is noisy and makes a scene distracting everyone else and forcing them
to lose their train of thought.
·
This
bug exists because again some students may have trouble getting to class on
time for whatever reason (oversleeping, transportation problems, laziness,
etc.) and when they arrive to class, they do not realize they are interrupting
someone’s train of thought and potentially ruining the class environment.
When
I was coming up with the list, initially the first couple bugs flew right out
of my mind as I had dealt with some of them this morning. As I continued on
down the list, I realized it got tougher and tougher to compile a list of 20
and it helped me realize I can be more positive throughout the day and carry
myself not worrying or noticing many of these “bugs” that bug me for really no
reason. I did not have too much of a hard time compiling the list in general.
Whenever I reached a roadblock, I would ask my friends or roommates what they
thought and they would tell me a response that I agreed with perfectly, but had
just forgotten.
Hey Mark!
ReplyDeleteI love way you structured your Bug List; very organized, detailed, and with a consistent format/style! I also think you did a great job with your "whys" in this assignment. They were more detailed and closer to the true "why" of the event, and therefore has a good foundation to possibly, eventually, maybe find a solution. You reflection also sounded a lot like mine and my experience writing a Bug List.
Overall I don't think I have any constructive criticism with this; good job!
Mark, I feel your pain for the number 12 bug and actually wrote one almost identical on my bug list! My small gym of which I was a member for 5 years, Anytime Fitness recently closed and I signed up for LA Fitness which is much more busy. Unfortunately during the rush hour it's difficult to get access to machines, benches, and weights which drives me nuts! It is interesting how many of these types of bugs just come and go without giving much extra thought as to why they happen and what a solution might be. After several bugs it definitely became difficult to continue listing more.
ReplyDeleteHello Mark, I have a lot of similar bugs on my list. I can totally relate to the bug about the trash building up, I have the same problem, but luckily I live relatively close to the dumpster and I can throw it away before it gets too crazy. I completely feel you on the bug about the gym, if you go to sw after 6 you always have to wait a lot time for the machines to free up. The solution in my case is to go very early.
ReplyDeleteHi Mark! Your bug list was very well thought out. I agree with bug number 8. Trying to find seat/chair in a library that is close enough for my charger to plug in my laptop or phone. The seats that seam to go first are always by the outlets. This is a bug because studying most of the time requires being on my computer. Another bug that I can relate with is number 9. I also live in a freezing house because of how old it is. (I just ordered a heated blanket and it helps). Overall, reading your bug list made me realize that a lot of college students may have similar bugs because of the stage of life we are in.
