Mark Candela  30A Final Reflection  End of Our Journey & Beginning of Your Journey  From going back and reading all of my earlier posts I can see that we truly did have an interesting route to the present. Overcoming obstacles of difficult assignments as well as getting out and conducting interviews were both challenging and rewarding. I would have to say my most formative experience was conducting the elevator pitches. Each of them required you to be all in and confident on what you were saying. If you were not knowledgeable about your own product then who would purchase it from you? I believe that it really helped one develop as an entrepreneur.  My most joyous experience was conducting the first interviews. I interviewed my friends and roommates and has a great experience. They helped me come up with some major aspects of my product as a whole. To be honest earlier in the course I had a desire to be an entrepreneur in the future, but today I am unsu...

Mark Candela 29A Venture Concept #2 Venture Concept 2: Throughout the course, I have seen the positive changes in myself that I believe it takes for one to become a successful and passionate entrepreneur. Growing up in a home with a father who started his own business, and a grandfather who did the same, I have seen countless examples of the hard work and determination it takes to really make one’s passion into a business plan to support a family. My product that I am offering is a wonderful and accessible product that I think can benefit many. My product is a parking application that connects to where one is located and scours the region for parking lots and locations. One can then rent a parking spot for a limited time and reserve the spot for whenever they arrive at the location for a fee. I believe that many people would be attracted to my product and it can appeal to demographics of all ages. The elder, youth, and middle-aged people can all find uses for it and I believe t...

25A What's Next?

Mark Candela 25A What's Next? What's Next? Existing Market: The next step I would like to approach with my product is in a similar field. I would like to get into the taxi-type business, similar to that of LYFT and UBER application. Transitioning from a parking application to a bus type system that could pick up individuals and drop them off an locations of their choice for a fee seems like a logical next step. In figuring this out, I spoke with 3 people who already acknowledged their agreement with my product and are supporters of it. Along with that they are frequent users of UBER and LYFT and 2 of them are drivers for the companies. I asked "what aren't we doing that we should be" to which the 2 drivers responded, that it takes a lot of capital and trust to operate this way. Allowing random strangers into your vehicle while you are focusing on driving could be dangerous, so they recommended implementing an insurance policy just in case for the safety of em...

21A Reading Reflection #2

Mark Candela 21A Reading Reflection #2 Bringing in a Second Opinion Cognitive Surplus , by Clay Shirky 1.  The book I selected speaks about the average person and what they typically do during their leisure time and how it has changed over the past couple of centuries. In the past where individuals have passed time by drinking beer or gin and watching television programs, the internet has altered things for the modern person. It allows individuals to empower themselves using online social media tools at their fingertips. It has also allowed specialization of specific markets and avenues and a more interconnectedness with people all around the globe. The internet has changed and is continuously changing the way people live their lives on a day to day and minute to minute scale. 2. The book highlights how the internet and social media tools can allow people to always be busy and encompassed in what they want, it gives people the opportunity to stay busy and not dwindle time a...
