Identifying Local Opportunities

Mark Candela Identifying Local Opportunities 1. Gators in Serious Funk Before Roadtrip https://www.gainesville.com/sports/20200129/gators-in-serious-funk-before-road-trip The Florida Gators basketball team recently has been suffering loses that earlier in the year would have been considered easy wins. The team has been playing subpar to its high preseason ranking of #4 in the country and as a result of it find themselves unranked and having loss 3 games in a row. A feat that seems unimaginable heading into the season. The problem presented in the article is the fact that the team lacks focus and often times finds themselves having mental lapses that cost them the win. The players and the coaching staff have the problem. The university has invested a lot into the basketball program including a new state-of-the-art basketball arena. The players and coaching staff have to step it up. 2. UF Sailing Team's Equipment Damaged by High Winds https://www.alligator.org/news/uf-sailing...

Opportunity Belief

Mark Candela Opportunity Belief I personally do believe that an opportunity exists in todays environment and culture. Being an avid sports fan of many different sports team all around the world, I witness fan culture in different countries and how they are similar and different, yet uniquely tied together by the fandom of a single team. People all around the world have differing opinions on how teams, players, coaches, and organizations should be run and operated, yet all have the same goal; winning. I believe the unmet need and opportunity I am describing is an outlet for fans of a team to voice their opinion and be heard by the professional teams and organizations. Yes I understand many people take to twitter or other social media outlets to voice their concerns but the organizations and corporations pay little to no attention to these opinions. I envision creating an outlet, be it on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc. for the average fan like me who has no relationship with the or...

My Entrepreneurship Story

Image
Growing up raised in a family of immigrants from Latin America, I was always taught the value of hard work and dedication to one's craft. I was instilled from a young age that these beliefs build a strong character in someone and fosters an attitude that others would gradually gravitate towards. These are all qualities I see firsthand in my father and his professional work. My father grew up in a house full of architects and saw himself in the same profession. In his earlier years he worked under my grandfather's architecture firm but felt it was time to make a leap. He made a decision that changed his life and became an entrepreneur and started his own construction company as both an architect and a general contractor. 20 years later, Candela Construction Inc. is still thriving in the South Florida area and is on its way to the very top led by my passionate and hardworking father. As I watched and sometimes helped my father with his work growing up, I was able to witness first...
